Admin Mawile: To be honest, I think everyone in DL is somehow a victim. We don’t know the full backstories of Karl and the mothers yet, and there’s a lot of room for them to wind up close to, if not just as sympathetic as the boys. That’s not even starting on the massive grey area that is the morality of the characters that we’re even meant to like, and really, DL is majorly questionable when it comes to morality and what qualifies as a sympathetic character. Karl and the mothers could change a lot in upcoming games, for one, and it’s also hard to pin down a single “bad guy” to begin with.
Basically what I’m getting at here is that DL is fiction, and there’s not a lot of point in fussing over which characters are “okay” to like. Within reason, a healthy dose of “fuck it, I’ll do what I want” is a good thing in fiction. I get that you’re just asking about who the “villain” is, anon, but that can turn into criticizing which characters people like and why pretty quick, so I feel like saying this much is kind of necessary.
