Sub AU Question!! Oh my gosh I’m so excited!! What would be their favorite way to be used or broken? For example, does one of them like pet play or getting hit? This is also for all the boys

Admin Mawile: This is not what I meant by short questions really, but it’s a good one, so I put more effort into this than I probably should have…This is really just the beginning of what I could go into, though, because I have lots of ideas and didn’t want to get too carried away here.

Shuu:

-He’s more of the sort to lay back and let you do whatever you want to him… without giving away many signs that he’s into it. It’s easier for him if he can pretend like he’s just humoring you, and drawing some true reactions out of him goes a long way to getting that defensive shell to break. Feeling like he’s at someone’s mercy, that no matter how powerful he is, he’s still choosing to hand it all over to a human does a number on him, so things that make him truly feel like he’s lost all control of himself are the best way to go.

Reiji:

-In his case, he pretty much enjoys what he gives. Corporal punishment is an easy one, but considering his history of being beaten over small mistakes, it’s kind of a psychological minefield. He likes having high expectations put on him, and legitimately pleasing his dom by being good enough is almost worryingly satisfying. He has a very high pain tolerance, and can take just about anything physical you can do to him, so humiliation and psychological methods are highly effective. Feeling absolutely debauched really gets to him.

Ayato:

-He’s definitely quite the brat, and a large part of what works on him is putting him in his place. Having rules and reasonable commands with loving intent behind them does a lot. You have to be careful with pain, as anything that gets too close to what his mother did is dangerous territory. He likes to be denied and put in his place, pushed to the limits of what he can take, and left squirming and needy for you and you alone. Putting some cracks in his ego is tough, but highly effective at getting him to calm down a bit.

Kanato:

-A huge part of submission for him is feeling cared for. It means the world to him to be treated like something small and precious. Strict rules and discipline go a long ways in giving him the structure he’s always needed, but you have to be careful to make sure he always feels loved and wanted through it all. Once he’s at your mercy, it would be easy to something to destroy him even further, and your best bet for making the situation work is to treat him like a little doll who’s helpless before you; yours to love and do as you please with.

Laito:

-As you’d probably expect, he’s highly, highly sexual. He tends to take things way too far way too fast, and something like denial is going to make him more whiny than anything. Basically anything you can do to him arouses him, but the real challenge is navigating the severe trauma lurking below the surface. He’s sensitive to pain (though that’s not to say that he doesn’t like it), and you’ll have to set clear boundaries and rules for him, as well as showing him through your actions that you don’t intend to use him and leave.

Subaru:

-The idea that anyone wants him enough to put in so much care is downright staggering, and it’s hard to convince him that you mean it. He also has a ridiculously high pain tolerance, but anything cruel or derogatory is just going to bring up bad things. What’s best is to torture him with pleasure; make him feel so good and loved and overwhelmed that it strips down every mental wall he has. Love and reassurance are necessary, and it’s not a bad idea to restrain him so he doesn’t have to feel like he could hurt you.

Ruki:

-His ego makes it very hard to get through to any of this, but he’s fond of more traditional BDSM. Bondage, corporal punishments, and and a total exchange of control are good for putting him in his place, but you do have to be careful not to venture too close to any of his traumas. When it comes to his scars especially, treat him very gently, and make sure that you make the whole experience into something safe. Crushing his ego won’t get you anywhere, but easing him into giving up control will earn you a whole new side of him.

Kou:

-Due to his particular trauma, you have to be exceptionally careful. Any wrong move could send him spiraling, and ruin all trust between you. Humiliation and pleasure work better than direct pain, but you still have to check in regularly that he’s alright with what you do. A safeword system is essential, and even though he’ll bristle at being coddled in a such a way, it’ll go a long ways towards building up real trust between you. He likes being treated like a little pet and being put in his place in gentle, easy ways that don’t pressure him.

Yuuma:

-A big part of giving up control for him is the physical. Being restrained and forced to stay still and accept what you do to him does a lot to make him feel truly helpless. For all his strength, and for all he longs to protect the people close to him, accepting a submissive position is a tricky, tricky thing. You’ll have the best luck through psychological methods like the aforementioned restraints, and plain old humiliation also works well. You can’t overpower him, but you can get in his head and make him feel like he’s helpless.

Azusa:

-He’s dangerously open to anything and everything you want to do to him, and the real challenge is getting it through his head that you’re not just going to use him. Being loving in everything you do is essential, as is making sure that you have good rules on what kind of behavior is appropriate. He likes pain of all kinds, and the more you hurt and humiliate him, the more into it he becomes. You could honestly do whatever you want to him, and as long as he feels loved and wanted, he’ll be more than happy to take whatever you give out.

Carla:

-For all his ego, submission is a tricky, tricky thing. Humiliation gets to him more than anything, and feeling like he’s truly beneath a human is an experience he won’t soon forget. You have to be sort of careful because of his Endzeit, but it’s unwise to treat him like he’s made of glass. Making him feel like he doesn’t have to be the tough, powerful king is the best way to get to his softer side, and with enough time, patience, and work, it’s possible to break him down to the point where he looks forward to not having to think.

Shin:

-A lot of what gets to him is being forced to slow down and accept that someone else is making the choices for him. He has a massively high pain tolerance, and humiliation can easily backfire, and what really gets to him is the slow, steady process of being broken down and eased into wanting to be yours and yours alone. He’s rather starved of attention, and giving him what he needs while also pressing him to submit and give up control is the way to make real progress. (And to be honest, he’s the one to like pet play.)

So.. for the character thing, how about Laito? Or Kou?,whichever you like or both of them ^v^. I really like that you are doing this games and asks,is very fun I love your blog <3

Laito

How I feel about this character

Admin Mawile: Laito is a good character, but he scares me the most out of all the boys. He’s like a black hole when it comes to anything positive, just draining anything remotely healthy and destroying it. The combination of silly, happy-go-lucky facade and genuine darkness lurking just beneath the surface is pretty dark freaky, and while I do like Laito, he makes me more nervous than any of the rest of the boys. He needs some serious help, and probably whatever equivalent of therapy vampires have. And also a hug.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Admin Mawile: That’s kind of hard to say. Laito doesn’t exactly open up to any kind of relationship, and I have a hard time envisioning him interacting in a genuinely positive way with much of anyone. If I had to pick, I’d say that his relationship with the other Sakamaki in general is my favorite, mostly because of how hard he tries to push everyone’s buttons and get on their nerves. He’s kind of a pest, will not stay out of trouble, and that’s pretty hilarious.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Admin Mawile: This isn’t exactly “unpopular”, but I thin that Laito needs a whole ton of therapy before he’s ready to have any kind of romantic relationship with anyone. As he is, he’s a danger to himself and others, and needs to get his whole idea of love sorted out before he’s safe to involve anyone else in a relationship with him. I don’t think it’s impossible for him to have a healthy relationship, but he needs to slow down, get some help, and start to understand some other forms of love before it’s wise.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Admin Mawile: I would have much rather seen Laito make a close platonic friend than gain a romantic partner, mostly for reasons stated above. Seeing him learn how to be comfortable and behave properly with someone that he has no sexual involvement with would be a very good thing, and I think it would do him a lot of good as well. Laito needs to come to understand that relationships aren’t just about sex, and a healthy friend, I think, would go a long ways towards that.

On a lighter note, more of Laito being a wimp, please. His squeamishness and fear of bugs are both hilarious.

Kou

How I feel about this character

Admin Mawile: Kou is good! He’s not a top favorite of mine, but he’s cute and interesting, and I can genuinely say that I’m fond of him. He’s also a favorite of one of my best friends, so I might like him a little better because of that… I feel for a him a lot, his backstory is heart wrenching, and honestly, there is just soooo much potential to write painful fics with him. I’ve never had anything against Kou, and while his personality is a little hard to get a grip on, he’s not that difficult to write, either.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Admin Mawile: I’m gonna be obvious here, but his dynamic with Subaru is pretty good. It’s not like a top favorite of mine, but there’s definitely some quality potential for interaction, and I do like how they sort of wind up friends after, well everything. I also like Kou’s relationship with the other Mukami, especially because they’re the closest things to family he’s ever had, and he seems to really need that kind of healthy relationship.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Admin Mawile: This isn’t an unpopular opinion, but it’s a headcanon that I don’t talk about very often. I think that his magic eye works like reverse synesthesia, and that he sees the “colors” of what other people are feeling. This could just be me projecting onto his character, but *shrug*. Also! I think that generally, Kou should be written as a lot nastier than he seems to be. He’s got a pretty terrible personality, and I like seeing him written in a way that stays true to that.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Admin Mawile: I’m gonna be kind of mean here, but more relating to his trauma would have been nice! I would have liked to see him getting triggered by things that hit a little too close to what he’s been through, breaking down and having full on panic attacks, and being genuinely scared of people who come at him with seemingly positive intentions. Kou’s been through a lot, and it would be interesting to see him suffering from it all more than canon really lets on. This one kind of goes for all the boys, too.

Ayato-kun?

How I feel about this character

Admin Mawile: Ayato is cute and good, and I feel a lot for him. Him and the other triplets are all pretty much frozen in childhood, mentally, and that’s really interesting. Ayato especially is an adorable little ego maniac, and his character, while not one of my top favorites, is decently appealing. He seems like the type who needs a good mom in his life, and of course, that’s like… the best way to attract me to a character. However, I do think he needs a bit of an attitude adjustment, and could stand to get his ego pulled down a few pegs.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Admin Mawile: I think that Yui is good for him, even if not romantically. She’s a genuinely sweet person, and he, and the rest of the boys, need that in their lives. Yui has the potential to help him become a little more normal, and that’s something that I’d really like to see. His relationship with the other triplets, specifically Laito is quality as well. One of my favorite scenes from canon is when Laito gets his brothers to crossdress for Halloween, a scene which is equal parts adorable and hilarious. The sheer fact that Laito could get Ayato to do that says good things about their dynamic to me.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Admin Mawile: I would not say that Ayato is exactly mature enough for a romantic relationship. He needs to fix some pretty serious issues before he’d be able to be healthy with anyone (honestly, pretty much all of the boys do), but I’d much rather see him in a platonic relationship before a romantic one. He needs time to figure himself out and grow up a little, and shoving him straight into a romantic relationship is not the way to do that.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Admin Mawile: Little ego monster gets his pride taken down a few notches. Ayato needs a major attitude adjustment, and I would have loved to see him get taken apart a bit. The other thing I would have liked to see is him getting a good parental figure in his life, as in, someone who’s willing and patient enough to deal with the worst of his issues and help with the whole “mentally hasn’t exactly aged since Cordelia” thing. Ayato needs help, an attitude adjustment, and a hug, and I’d take any of the above happening.

Um hi, could you please do yuma for the character break thing?

How I feel about this character

Admin Mawile: To be honest, he’s probably my least favorite of the boys. I’ve never connected with him or felt very close to his character, he’s not my type in the slightest, and overall, I just haven’t been able to muster up a whole lot of feelings for him. He has good traits, yes, and I’m not stopping anyone else from liking him, I’ve just never been too fond of the guy. He’s the hardest for me to write, too, and requests with him in it give me a long minute of “ehhhh”.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Admin Mawile: I do really like his dynamic with Azusa. It’s sweet to see such a big, rough boy going out of his way to look after someone smaller and more fragile, and I’ll always have a bit of a fondness for how all the Mukami treat their youngest brother. I also think that his relationship with Ruki is pretty funny, as Ruki is pretty much the one person who can make him obey. I remember a Drama CD where Yuuma is forced to act completely out of character, or risk his precious vegetable garden being destroyed.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Admin Mawile: I don’t actually find Yuuma’s relationship with Shuu to be all that interesting. Speaking from experience, when you’re separated from a friend for a long time (especially vampire time), it’s just not the same. People change, you grow apart, and it’s hard for me to picture the same connection being there as when they were kids. It probably doesn’t help things that both Shuu and Yuuma are low on my list of favs, but I just don’t care too much for the friendship/relationship that seems to have most people enamored.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Admin Mawile: Hmmm, it’s kind of hard to think of anything for Yuuma… I don’t have much of an interest in him, so there’s not a whole lot that I really want to happen with him. I guess, like I want with all of the boys, I wish he’d get back some of what he does to Yui. Seeing the boys get their egos crushed is always nice, especially after they spend so much time thinking that they can get away with whatever they want. This is kind of a more general thing, but yeah, I’ll go with it.

So the Sub Au, does it have any major changes besides for Do-M vampire boys and Do-S human reader?

Admin Mawile: Well.. honestly, it kind of changes everything. A big part of the plot of DL is Yui slowly realizing her masochistic side, and in this Au, that’s totally flipped, since they don’t exactly know it at the start of the Au. I imagine that there would be a lot more internal conflict for the boys as they have to deal with the fact that a mere human taking control of them is actually pretty pleasant. There would be a lot of trust and emotional issues involved for the boys, especially as Reader has to help them cope with their darkest issues.

The main plot of this Au would be like an opposite of canon DL. Accidents happen, the boys let a little too much control slip, and hey, whoops they kind of like being dominated ohno.

There’s an absolute ton of guilt and shame and everything else you’d expect from ego-fueled vampires figuring out how to be weak for once, Reader has to do a lot of coaxing and reassurance, and it’s as much being genuinely nice to the boys and letting them give up control in a safe environment as it is getting revenge for everything they do in canon. It may start out with Reader being a little cruel, but considering how fragile the boys’ mental states can be and all the abuse they’ve suffered….

It’s going to wind up as a healing experience for all of them.

I love the new Sub!(is that what it’s called??) AU, especially bc I can picture the boys initially finding out by allowing the reader to be dominant in bed for a special occasion (but they’re totally planning on seizing back control after like 5 minutes), and the most they expect is for them to be more demanding, and their S/o ties them to the bed frame and teases them mercilessly, and even though they know they shouldn’t let them do this, it just feels waaaay too good to try and stop them ;p~

Admin Mawile: That’s pretty accurate! ( ◞・౪・) I personally like the idea of it being a slow, gradual process more along the lines of how Yui realizes her own masochistic side in canon, but I can definitely see things that way too! Whatever the method, the idea of the boys suddenly realizing that they kind of like their partner being in control is just…. really good.

That’s so cool! Could you tell us which colours you see when listening to each character, and your favourite (to listen to)?

Admin Mawile: (●ゝ∀・)ノ I’ll list the most distinct ones!

Reiji’s voice is deep, dark berry red, kind of lie the fourth color here:

The color of it tastes vaguely like berry syrup. There’s a car in town that matches the color almost exactly, but I can’t exactly get a picture of that.

Laito’s voice is a rose pink sort of color, with a texture like flower petals, and just vaguely sticky. It looks something like this:

Kou’s voice is straw yellow and rather plain. It’s not the color I’d expect from an idol at all, and it actually doesn’t look so good. This is pretty close to it:

Yuuma’s voice, especially in his character song, is bright teal. The character song itself is teal and silver, and is honestly really nice looking. This is about as close as I can get to his voice itself:

It’s a bit like this, but brighter and a bit more green.

Ruki’s voice is a plain gray-brown color. It’s simple, but normal for a man, and it’s inoffensive enough that I like it pretty well. This is as close as I can find:

My favorite to listen to would have to be Reiji’s. It’s a pretty typical color for a male voice, but it looks nice, and it’s been the most distinct to me for a good few years. It’s actually kind of hard to place the boys’ voice colors, because their image colors kind of get in the way?? I keep getting the “wrong” impression because of them…
