Admin Mawile: Sooo, I wound up signing up for what basically amounts to a torture and angst fic bingo card challenge! o(*’▽’*)/☆゚’ Of course, I’m going to be making some of my required fics DL related, and I suppose it can’t hurt to post them here! Everything will be appropriately labeled, but there will potentially be lots of gore and generally messed up themes~

Just, um, fair warning I guess >3>

I think you had made a post about male!Yui before. Can you make some headcanons about how he would treat a girl when he’s dating her? Thank you!

Admin Mawile: φ(*⌒▽⌒)ノ

-Yuu is the actual sweetest boy to ever live. Whoever his partner would be, he’d be kind, dedicated, and loving, ready to do whatever he had to to reach out and make sure that his partner was loved. Considering his rather strict upbringing, he’d be quite the gentleman, and with a female partner, would be the picture of a chivalrous young man with a heart of gold.

-Generally, he’d prefer traditional, overly romantic dates like a carnival, romantic movie, or quiet walk together. He wants to make his partner happy, though, and if they had other preferences, it wouldn’t be hard for him to adapt. He’s not good with anything too rough, but for the most part, he wants to do what makes the person he loves feel like they’re treasured.

-Yuu has exceptional patience with his partner, and forgives remarkably easily. That’s not to say he’s a doormat, though, and he’s more than capable of standing up for himself should a relationship turn sour. Generally, though, he’s kind and accepting, and will do anything in his power to make his partner feel loved. He goes out of his way to please people close to him, and is extremely gentle and kind with the person that he treasures.

How would the boys reacts to overhearing Karlheinz telling their s/o that the boys are treating her just like he treated their mothers, or how their mothers acted around him? I noticed the Sakamaki do act like their parents even though they disloke them…

Admin Mawile: (●>д<) I assume you mean just the Sakamaki?

Shuu:

-It’s too much trouble to worry about, so Shuu puts it out of his mind and tries not to think about it. Even so, the thought that he’s acting like his father hangs in his head for quite a while. He’s doomed to hurt anyone who gets close to him, though, so it’s not like there’s anything he can do to change.

Reiji:

-The very idea that he could be behaving like his mother makes him want to choke someone. Considering how his childhood scarred him, Reiji would not be pleased with even thinking that he could be acting like his parents. Of course, his ego and pride are much too strong to allow any real change.

Ayato:

-Hearing that he acts like his parents, even from that man is enough to send Ayato into a spiral of fury and doubt. He can’t stand the idea of being like either of his parents, and the fact that he can actually sort of see how he’s becoming might be enough to make him question his behavior a little bit.

Kanato:

-Just hearing those things causes a massive tantrum, which he’s likely to take out on you, if only because you’re who’s there. He hates the idea of being like either of his parents, but is far too self absorbed to take the comments to heart. The most reaction that causes is a temper tantrum and tears.

Laito:

-It does not sit well with him that he could be behaving like his parents. Laito is so locked in his own way of seeing the world that it’s unlikely that he’d change, but hearing that he’s turning into his parents will at least leave a seed of doubt, enough to make him think a little, for a long while to come.

Subaru:

-Makes sense. As angry as it makes him to hear, he is a horrible, filthy being that only corrupts everyone who gets close to him. It’s just fitting that he’d grow up to do the same things his father did. The thought of it makes Subaru feel absolutely sick, but at the same time, it’s what he’s been expecting.

As someone who personally hates pain and causing others to feel it, I don’t get the whole Sadist and Masochist thing. In DL though, it almost seems like they’re saying their negative treatment of Yui/The Reader is simply a product of how they were raised but that’s far from an excuse! The stuff they put Yui/You through is not ‘sexy’, most of it is down right abuse!! I don’t know if you talked about it before but what are your thoughts on the whole thing?

Admin Mawile: (●>д<)ノ That is a… complicated topic.

First of all, Sadism and Masochism can be legitimate, perfectly acceptable sexual and non-sexual practices. The ways the boys do it is wayyyy wrong, but in itself, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying pain in a safe, sane, and consensual environment.

The way the boys act is primarily a product of the way they were raised, but you’re right in that it’s not an excuse. The boys are meant to be damaged, yet genuinely terrible people. They’re not nice, they don’t treat Yui well, and yes, a lot of what they do is absolutely abuse. I would never deny that the boys’ actions are cruel and abusive.

However, that’s where the fantasy comes in.

The fantasy of DL is being able to win over a damaged, abused pretty boy and “fix” him through love. Yeah, some people are attracted to it for the masochism element, but what it boils down to is a power fantasy of fixing someone broken just by loving them enough.

And this is completely a fantasy. There’s a clear border between reality and fiction, and DL is FAR on the fiction side of things. It’s not realistic; it’s nothing that anyone would want in real life.

Some people have fantasies of swatting down anyone who challenges them with a single hit, and some people have fantasies of being able to “fix” someone by loving them enough, and that’s okay. As long as it stays in fantasy, these things are healthy and fun. There’s nothing wrong or bad about shipping yourself or your characters with the boys, and having that power fantasy is a 100% normal thing.

The fun of it, though, is is that it’s not real. It’s fun to be able to imagine the boys in all kinds of situations, even reader insert, but if they were real, they’d be awful. DL is fiction at its core, and I highly doubt that anyone is saying that what the boys do should be encouraged or enjoyed in real life.

In the end, DL is a work of fiction meant to be enjoyed. It’s safe and fun in fiction land, and as long as people can differentiate that the fantasies of the story aren’t okay in reality, it’s harmless.

Can I request headcanons for human au Richter being sent to the mansion as prey for the reader?

Admin Mawile: (* ゚∀゚)ノシ

-When the vampire king isn’t satisfied with just Karlheinz’s sons, he’s forced to trick his own brother into “visiting” the mansion… with no intention of him ever coming back. Richter winds up as a last resort for getting Karl out of trouble, and when he finds out that he’s been betrayed for the sake of something so selfish, he’s absolutely furious… not to mention terrified of the vampire.

-Richter is, as any sensible person would be, scared to death of the bloodthirsty creature that seems intent on draining him dry. He’s a coward at heart, and is willing to resort to any kind of dirty tricks or pathetic tactics he has to to avoid being killed by the monster he’s been forced to live with. He’ll beg and plead to be spared from punishment, anything to put you off of feeding from him any more than you have to.

-Before long, though, his masochistic side starts showing up, most apparent when he moans while being bitten. The shame he feels is enough to make him sick, but at the same time, he’s feeling more and more attracted to the sadistic creature that takes such great pleasure in toying with him. He is receiving more attention than he has in his life, even if he has to hurt to get it.

To be honest with you I’ve never liked shin so much as a character until I read through your pet au stuff, thank you for that! What would it take for shin to get his relebious spark back? Or at least be comfortable enough with an owner to let then know if he’s angry?

Admin Mawile: (*ゝω・)ノ Glad I could make you like him~

-Shin’s rebellious side is still there, it’s just buried under years of training and punishment. He’s naturally aggressive and independent, but he’s had his spirit crushed for so long that it’s hard for him to show it. He expects to be punished for any kind of poor behavior, and acts submissive mostly out of self preservation. Deep inside, he hates having to be looked down on by humans, but he knows better than to try to fight back.

-What it would take for him to open up and show his true feelings would be a long time of being allowed and encouraged to act the way he wants to, not fit the mold of a perfect pet. If his owner made it very clear that they wanted him to have some spirit, not just be an empty shell, he’d eventually be able to get over his conditioning and act more on impulse again. However, it would be a rather slow change, as the kind of pain he’s been through has left a deep impression on him with how he’s to behave.

For the pet au. This one is gonna hurt. How would his brothers react of Subaru was actually put down?

Admin Mawile: (●>д<)ノ

Shuu:

-For the most part, he does everything possible not to care. It would hurt too much to think about what happened to the brother he’s known since he was small, to think that he’s probably next. It was to be expected that the useless get disposed of, so there’s nothing for him to be upset over.

Reiji:

-The death of someone close to him makes him want to do everything possible not to be next. That kind of fate is what happens when one isn’t good enough to live, and the only thing he can do to avoid being put down himself is to get better and better, until he’s worth too much to be disposed of.

Ayato:

-Having his brother actually die would send him into a panic, desperate to become good enough that he won’t be next. It’s surreal that someone he’s grown up with can just be gone, and it gets to the point where he’s so scared of it happening to him that he’d do very literally anything to be good.

Kanato:

-Losing his brother, even one that he wasn’t particularly close to, would worsen his behavioral problems to a worrying extent. The reality that he really could die would leave him detached from reality, unable to do much more than cry and hope that he won’t be the next one to be gotten rid of.

Laito:

-Sad as it is, that’s the kind of thing that happens in their lives, and he’ll do his absolute best not to be bothered by it… Which doesn’t go so well. He’s more sensitive than he’d ever want to admit to, and losing a loved one leaves a huge impact on his already damaged mental state.

A quick question, in the Human Au, does the reader/Yui have a rival vampire family, like how the Mukamis were to the Sakamakis? Would they kidnap the boys in order to piss off the reader/Yui? What’s their motivation against her?

Admin Mawile: (*´・д・)ノ I have not pictured a rival family for her, honestly. In my opinion, that’s the perfect place for Ocs, so I haven’t set anything in stone with the idea. For people who have multiple DL Aus and want to use the human Au, they’re open to place their characters in the setting however they please. Personally, I prefer the idea of all the boys with one predatory vampire, in the typical otome game set up, but it’s up to the reader what they like best~

Parental au: For some of the boys would they use like kindergarten techniques? Nap time, snack time, stickers for good behavior…

Admin Mawile: (`・ω・´)ノ To be honest, basic behavioral techniques are practically necessary, considering where most of the boys are at in terms of decent behavior and mental age. However, if they ever figured out that that’s what you were doing, it would go very, very badly… Perhaps under the best possible circumstances, it would be effective, but being even the slightest bit patronizing is a dangerous game, no matter how childish some of the boys may be.
