-“What a good boy,” you murmured, softly pressing against tense muscle.

Yard work, while difficult, was proving to be the best thing to ever happen to Subaru’s temper. The heavy labor (of course, safe) was easing his outbursts, leaving him much too happy-tired to lash out.

In fact, the only downside yet was a sore, tired body, and just gentle rubbing at his shoulders and back seemed to fix that just fine.

Subaru whined, too exhausted to do anything but lean into your touch.

It was nice to see him without every defense up, for once, and even better to know that your guidance was the cause of it.

Yuuma:

-Larger, stronger pets were typically worked until they broke.

You were learning that that idea was entirely wrong. To give him time to recover from a life of exactly that, you’d been keeping Yuuma as a house pet, and the vampire was turning out to be quite the gentle giant.

From his seat beside your chair, Yuuma nuzzled again the hand gently running through his hair.

And this was from a pet expected to be too dangerous to keep indoors.

You continued to pet him, delighted that you’d been able to give such a wonderful creature another chance at a happy life.

-He’s almost desperate to please you, cranking up the bragging and ego whenever you’re around. You have to think he’s the best, and he’d do absolutely anything to make sure you do.

Kanato:

-He stays horribly needy and demanding, entirely dependent on your affection and love. No matter how old he gets, he never gets tired of being spoiled and praised, and all but insists on you babying him.

Laito:

-Even as his personality shifts to the easy-going pervert he is as an adult, he never quite pulls away from you. He’s all but imprinted on you, and you remain the only person he can fully trust and cling to.

Subaru:

-You bring out gentle parts of him that have been otherwise forgotten, and you’re the only person who gets to see the sweet, shy child he used to be. He’s never violent with you, and is more relaxed with you than anyone.

Ruki:

-He’s extremely respectful towards you, and goes out of his way to keep you happy. You’re a valued member of his family, and the person who took care of him for so long, and the least he can do is treat you well.

Kou:

-He remains very clingy, and depends on your affection even as an adult. Your attention will always mean the world to him. He likes to involve you in his fame as well, assuming that you’ll appreciate his influence.

Yuuma:

-He always wants to please you, and makes a conscious effort to make sure you’re proud of him. Other than his brothers, you’re the only family he can remember, and your love is extremely valued.

Azusa:

-You are very much his favorite person ever, and he sticks to your side like he’s glued there even as an adult. He has absolutely no shame in seeking out your affection, and wants to be with you almost constantly.

Carla:

-You are the only person to see his sweet side, and you alone get to witness just how soft he can be. He’s surprisingly affectionate when no one else is around, and respects you immensely for being so kind.

Shin:

-He’s constantly seeking out your attention and praise, and will go to dangerous lengths to get it. He’s much more risky and violent than he was as a kid, but his intentions are almost identical.

-No matter how much attention you give him, it is never enough. Kanato is so starved for love that no amount can ever fully satisfy him, and the more attention you give him, the clingier and more desperate more it he gets. He comes to depend on your love entirely, and you wind up as much of a comfort object to him as Teddy is, someone that he absolutely cannot live without. He thrives on attention, and evens out emotionally the more love you give him.

-You were hoping to be left alone for once. For the past few months, your life had been nothing but biting and violation.

Ayato probably wasn’t the worst of the boys to be stuck with, but he was still cruel, and you were getting tired of indulging the needy boy just to keep yourself safe from his wrath.

It was almost normal when you were forcefully yanked down into his lap, his arms latching on tight and mouth going to your neck.

What you weren’t expecting was for it to stop there.

He didn’t bite, didn’t hurt you, just buried his face in your shoulder and held you close. It was the exact opposite of what you were used to, and you stiffened up in nervousness.

“Stay put. ‘m not gonna do anything,” he mumbled, breathing deeply.

He was acting like a child seeking out your affection, and you couldn’t bring yourself to stop him.

-He’s honestly just excited not to have to study all day. You’re nice to him, you let him go outside, and you don’t try to punish him all the time, so he more or less thinks you’re perfect. It gets to a point where he would spend his time doing exactly as you said, if it meant more of your attention.

Reiji:

-He wants to please you, and goes to ridiculous lengths to make sure you’re impressed. Housework and studying come naturally to him, and all he asks in return for being the perfect child is a some approval. It’s amazing how much happier he looks with a little bit of praise.

Ayato:

-Once he’s finally gotten used to not being punished for every little mistake, he’s a happy, high-energy kid who needs almost constant attention. You have to be right beside him at all times, praising him for everything he does, and he will make it very clear that he expects that.

Kanato:

-The more attached to you he is, the more clingy he gets, demanding every bit of attention he can possibly soak up. He’s been starved of affection for long, even small scraps of your time mean the world to him. He’ll cling to your legs and cry to be held almost constantly.

Laito:

-When he finally trusts you, you see a completely different side than the happy-go-lucky kid he pretends to be. Rather, he’s quiet and calm, hesitant around most kinds of contact, more gentle than he wants to let on, and surprisingly fragile for the way he usually acts.

Subaru:

-He gets more clingy once he’s used to you, obviously desperate for praise and gentleness. You become something of a safety object to him, and he can’t quite manage to feel calm without you close. He’ll do literally anything to make you happy, too, even at his own expense.

Ruki:

-He’s a mature and responsible kid, horribly needy when it comes to praise, but every bit as eager to earn it. You’re like a parental substitute, and he winds up needing the same kind of approval and guidance. He’s a hard worker, and all but lives for your praise and happiness.

Kou:

-It takes him ages to fully relax around you, but once he does, he’s a remarkably sweet and gentle child, shy and happy and always looking for attention from you. He doesn’t trust people easily, and you’ll quickly learn just how much it means that he does trust you.

Yuuma:

-He’s excitable and easy-going, with a hardworking nature and a strong desire to make you proud. He can be a bit wild, though, and between being over-excited and big for his age, his affection might be a bit too rough for you. He absolutely thrives off of making you happy.

Azusa:

-Gentle, shy, and more than a bit slow, he’s a simple boy with simple pleasures. Your love and attention means the world to him, and he’d do anything to have it. Despite being prone to self harm, affection and loving are easy stand ins if you get to the habit while he’s still young.

-Once he fully trusts you, you find a shy, soft-hearted boy behind the icy facade he puts on. He’s extremely gentle, afraid of disappointing you, and more than a little desperate to please. The opinions of people he cares about mean everything to him, and yours is worth the most.

Shin:

-He’s an absolutely wild kid with the strongest desire to please you may ever see. Approval is what fuels him, and he’ll do any number of stupid stunts in an attempts to impress you. He comes to idolize you even more than his brother, but can’t stay out of trouble no matter what either of you do.

You can’t keep him out of the ingredients no matter what you do, and he’s so interested in everything that he winds up covered in at least a couple accidents’ worth of flour and sugar. You’ll have to convince him to let Teddy wait for you two, or else the poor bear will be every bit as filthy. In the end, he’s delighted, sticky, and happy-sick from tasting too much batter.

-Kanato, soft and quiet as ever, was curled up closely against your hip, face all but buried as soft breaths warmed your leg.

It was about as relaxed as you ever saw him, and even if it was only because you’d been by his side for most of the say, assuring him that he’d done nothing but please you, it was worth it.

Every so often, you passed a piece candy down to him, soft lips kissing at your fingers as he took the sweets from your hand.

It was peaceful, it was cute, and he was happy.

Eventually, the candy ran out, and he took to gently licking the fingers still near his mouth in a submissive imitation of feeding. You stroked his hair in return, twining your hands in the soft purple strands as he all but purred.

You sometimes wished these quiet moments could last longer.

-When he’s fond of you, he’s more gentle than normal. You’ve obviously been well behaved livestock if you’ve earned his love, and so he’ll no longer have the need to be quite so strict. You’ll be rewarded much more often, and he’ll rarely find reason to be angry or cruel.

Kou:

-Once he’s that in love with you, you’ll be included in his life much more often. He’s more willing to show off a partner that he’s actually fond of– and not just to set up some cruel trick. He’ll want to spend more time around you as well, especially because you’re now the best person to be with.

Yuuma:

-When he likes you, he actually makes an effort to be more gentle. Humans are fragile after all, and it’s not like he wants to damage someone he cares about. You’ll also be included in chores more, forcibly recruited into helping in the garden and spending time with him.

-The more he cares about you, the more he has to be with you. Aside from craving being hurt by you, he just wants all the contact and attention he can get. He turns into a horribly clingy thing, always following you around and trying to get more affection at every turn.

-He’s most interested in finding a cool costume, and eating so much candy he makes himself sick. It’s extremely difficult to get him to calm down, especially once the festivities start getting to him.

Reiji:

-He insists that he’s not a child anymore, and that he doesn’t need to go out for candy or get a costume. Instead, he stays home and helps you with the food and setting up whatever decorations you need to.

Ayato:

-He’s determined to get more candy than anyone, and runs around at least three neighborhoods demanding that everyone give him all their candy because he (and his costume) are the best.

Kanato:

-He’s absolutely fixated on the candy… and very little else. He’ll eat until he gets sick if you let him, so make sure to keep a careful eye on how much food and sweets he’s getting a hold of.

Laito:

-Surprisingly, he winds up utterly engrossed in the costumes, and very hesitantly asks if he can go as something pretty. He winds up enjoying himself massively, and secretly keeps the costume for later use.

Subaru:

-Honestly, he’s nothing short of terrified by all the commotion, and has to spend most of the holiday hiding inside away from the noise. However, he will definitely enjoy simple crafts and home made treats from you.

Ruki:

-He’d much prefer to stay home and do something with you, but the moment you mention scary stories, he absolutely lights up. It becomes practically his mission to find the most terrifying tale out there.

Kou:

-He gets horribly overexcited, and has a long period of hyperactivity where he doesn’t slow down for a second. Unfortunately, this ends in a bad crash, and a long nap in order for him later.

Yuuma:

-He’s most interested in hunting down the HUGEST pumpkin possible and helping you make something out of it. Once the Jack O Latern is made, his priorities change to autumn cooking.

Azusa:

-He’s a bit too slow to safely go trick or treating with other kids, but he’s more than happy to get candy just from you. He’ll enjoy anything you decide to do, so long as he’s actually included in it.

Carla:

-He insists that he’s too old for such a holiday, and will only celebrate it if you insist. This translates to contentedly going along with whatever you ask him to do, and sneaking a surprising amount of candy.

Shin:

-He spends almost all day and night in his wolf form, trying to scare anyone that gets close to the house and snatching candy with nuts out of people’s bags. There’s really no talking him out of it.

-He almost insists on doing the reading himself, but settles in quickly once tiredness hits him. He’s too engrossed in the story to actually fall asleep until you’re done, but you can almost see him drowsing off throughout it. He prefers complex, interesting stories over empty children’s tales, even if they are a bit harder to fall asleep to.

Kou:

-He’d rather curl up with you than listen to a story, but the reading is a good excuse for getting you to stay with him longer. He falls asleep only a few minutes in, arms latched tightly around your neck so you can’t leave him. He’ll insist on stories every night if it means being able to spend more time with you instead of going to sleep alone.

Yuuma:

-He tends to be much too hyperactive to actually sit still and listen, but he appreciates any attention you give him and makes an amazing effort to pay attention. He gets completely absorbed in the story, though, and can’t help but stop you every few minutes to ask more questions. Reading to him probably won’t help him sleep, but he loves the time with you.

Azusa:

-He goes completely still the moment you start reading, and stares intently, hardly moving a muscle, until you’re done. He’s so appreciative that you want to spend time with him, he can’t bring himself to risk making you angry. It’s better to pick a slow paced, simple story, as he easily gets overwhelmed and won’t be able to keep up with anything complicated.
