What other types of features appear in the Xeno AU? Like, are their fangs longer or something of that sort? This blog is so cool by the way! (‘u’)/

Admin Mawile: (๑✧◡✧๑)

-Actually, I’ve drawn xeno versions of all of their fangs! I’d have to hunt down the picture and redo it if I was going to post it though… But yes! Larger, more diverse fangs with more shapes than the canon “tiny little points”. The fangs is a bit optional though, because I do love the cute little fangs. As I’ve mentioned, de-fanging is a fairly common practice in Pet Au, so the vampires there could have no fangs at all.

-Slit pupils and eyes that seem to glow in the dark. Since vampires are nocturnal, I can picture them as having eyes like a cat’s that, especially in darkness, catch any light and glow like mini lasers. Eyes like this would come with more sensitive vision, too, and a much lower tolerance for bright light.

-A big part of the xeno traits are mental. There are a variety of instincts and tendencies that can shape a vampire’s behavior, often beyond their control. Most of them began as methods of survival, and even in modern times when their purpose hardly remains, the instincts themselves stubbornly stick around. Generally, they aren’t talked about, especially around humans, as the vampires themselves tend to see the instincts as shameful, useless weaknesses.

Pet au, would a pet form a romantic relationship with an owner? or an owner with a pet?

Admin Mawile: (〃´o`)=3

-I don’t know if “romantic” is quite the right word for it, but there are definitely owners that have some kind of relationship with their pets. Since the pets themselves are considered less than human, the laws on how they can and cannot be treated are much looser. This makes any relationship with that view horribly one-sided, especially as the pets are trained to obey their owner’s every command. There’s without a doubt a business for that kind of pet, though, and as such, there are special breeders that cater to such an interest.

oooh more about pet au ayato’s personality please???

Admin Mawile: (~ ̄▽ ̄)~

-So in canon, Ayato has an obsession with being the best brought on by his mother’s abuse and pressuring. In this Au, he has a similar complex. He’s convinced that he’s superior, and uses that false arrogance as a defense mechanism; if he’s not the best, he’s nothing, so he has to be the best. Here, Ayato’s pride is twisted around his good breeding, and the knowledge that if he doesn’t prove to be worth buying, he’ll be as good as dead. He’s completely obsessed with being good at what he is, being a good enough pet to find an owner and not be killed for being useless. He still acts arrogant, but it’s a desperate farce, the last thing keeping him from snapping completely.

-At the same time though, he’s much more submissive and unstable, especially around humans. There’s never been any guarantee on his life, and the stress of knowing that any bad enough mistake could be the end of him has left Ayato jumpy and desperate to please. Humans make him nervous; they’re the ones with the power in his little world, and the ones that he’s known so far have been cruel, short tempered, and hard to please. He knows that he has to keep them happy somehow, but it’s so hard to figure out what they want of him, and no amount of believing he’s the best will do any good against their painful, confusing expectations and rules.

So, I really like Subaru. Some boyfriend headcanons for him?

Admin Mawile: Σ(ノ°▽°)ノ

Definitely shy about romantic stuff for a while. He’s horribly easily embarrassed when you’re first in a relationship, and while he gets better the longer you’re together, he never gets over it all the way. How just kissing you can fluster him after everything he threatened/actually tried to do you before you were in an actual relationship is still a mystery, though.

-He’s super protective too. You’re tiny and fragile and if anyone so much as looks at you wrong there’s a good change they’ll be punched through a wall. Subaru’s temper is bad normally, but when your safety is involved, all sense goes out the window.

-On a similar note, he would try to tone down said temper around you, too. Since you’re probably scared of his outbursts (or you should be, in his mind), and the last thing he wants is to be the cause of your fear, he does try to control himself. Unfortunately, the success of these attempts varies, and he’s still regrettably prone to violent outbursts and fits of rage.

What do the Sakamaki boys look for in a S/O? Personality, appearance.

Admin Mawile: (*・▽・*) First, I have to clarify: they could like anyone. There are things that they’re attracted to at first, but it’s completely possible for them to wind up loving someone who’s even the complete opposite, okay?

Shuu:

-He would like someone quiet, a little shy, and fun to tease, a bit nervous, but independent enough not to cling on him. But the most important thing is that they leave him alone when he’s asleep. As for appearance, he rather likes the cute and innocent.

Reiji:

-He’s downright demanding about his partner being intelligent and well-mannered. Appearance doesn’t mean anywhere near as much as if you can meet his ridiculously high standards. However, he does have a bit of favor for classy, traditional looks.

Ayato:

-Personality wise, he’d be most interested in someone a bit wild, who’s more likely to go along with what he thinks is fun than try to hold him back or argue. As for appearance… .does it really need saying? We all know what physical trait he looks for.

Kanato:

-He would likely go for someone obedient and soft willed, who would cave to his demands and do whatever he wanted them to. Kanato would probably like someone a bit insecure too. Looks wise, Kanato would most likely go for someone pretty, doll-like and almost fragile.

Laito:

-Laito isn’t picky about looks or personality. He likes interesting people, unique in some outstanding way that makes them stand out from the rest of the world. Keeping his attention is the most important thing you can do, and no one “type” has any advantage at that.

Subaru:

-Subaru would probably like a sensible, caring kind of person. Someone stable and forgiving enough to handle his mood swings, yet practical enough to not get caught up in them. Physically, he likes sweet, pretty looks, soft features and and a gentle air.

In the pet AU Carla still seems to have Endziet, is there a cure or treatment for this? Is it still lethal in this AU?

Admin Mawile: ( ≧Д≦)

-Yes, Carla still has Endzeit in this Au! Here, it’s still a disease exclusive to First Bloods, but it’s theorized to be caused by inbreeding and genetic defects. The severity can vary from mild, chronic, suffering to actual death. No one has quite figured out what causes the more severe cases, but poor immune systems, overworking, stress, and other illness have all been shown to make it worse. Carla’s case is on the more severe side, causing him extreme pain and exhaustion, as well as a host of other symptoms, including dark, painful, bruise-like spots appearing on his body and wings. There are some treatments, but none are truly effective, and nothing yet has been found to cure it. The only thing to do that really helps anything is to reduce stress and strain and hope the symptoms clear up for a while.

Pet AU: What are the Diaboys’ daily lives?

Admin Mawile: (o゜◇゜)ノ

Shuu:

-He mostly tries to stay out of the way and not do anything to warrant punishing. Shuu would rather sleep in a dark corner somewhere and be forgotten about than risk making an owner angry, and he’s gotten pretty good at escaping notice.

Reiji:

-Typically, pets are either left in solitary confinement, caged, or with each other when not otherwise needed. Reiji rarely does anything to earn solitary confinement or extra restraint, so most of his time is spent in the same holding room as whichever of his brothers aren’t in trouble at the time.

Ayato:

-He does try to behave, but his efforts frequently do more harm than good. Thus, Ayato is often in some kind of punishment, whether directly delivered by an owner, or left in isolation to keep him out of the way. Most trainers dislike dealing with him due to his excitable, impulsive nature.

Kanato:

-Kanato is easily upset and often incoherent, so (for his own safety, as it’s said), he’s often kept well restrained and/or by himself. Unfortunately, the isolation makes him even more unstable, creating a vicious cycle of acting out and suffering the consequences for it.

Laito:

-Since he’s mostly well behaved, Laito doesn’t spend a lot of time locked away by himself. He’s known for being obedient and easy to deal with, so he’s often allowed to stay with his brothers and relatively unrestrained. However, his minuscule amount of freedom doesn’t do him a lot of good.

Subaru:

-Because of his violent outbursts, he spends a lot of time in solitary confinement, which basically entails being alone and tightly restrained in a small, dark room where he can’t bother anyone. Since he’s been deemed unsafe to own, no one really cares what happens to him anymore.

Ruki:

-He and his brothers spend every day trying to survive. If they’re caught by humans, they’d be killed, and finding food and shelter while avoiding capture is no easy feat. Since Ruki is the appointed “leader”, it’s become his responsibility to make sure they succeed.

Kou:

-Thanks to the years’ worth of traumas (both physical and mental) he’s accumulated, most days, Kou can’t do much more than curl up and try to make it through the nightmares. Even something so seemingly simple as sitting up at the wrong time can set off a chain of panic and pain.

Yuuma:

-Helping Ruki take care of the weaker two, mostly. Since he’s bigger, stronger, and more alert than Azusa, Ruki usually takes him on their food missions. Humans are much more aware (and wary) of him due to his intimidating figure, though, so he has to be very careful when out.

Azusa:

-Azusa is weak and spacey enough that Ruki doesn’t want him anywhere dangerous or demanding, so his job is usually keeping an eye on Kou, and making sure he doesn’t injure himself or have to be by himself when he’s stuck in one of his frequent nightmares.

Carla:

-Since his illness started to weaken him, Carla has been left out of anything thought to be too harsh for him. In an attempt to slow the progression of the illness and keep his body from further stress, he’s mostly left alone to rest. And yet, he remains exhausted and pained more often than not.

Shin:

-With his brother mostly out of commission, Shin is the one who has to do more. Aside from the daily training (to make sure he’s always well behaved and ready to sell), he’s often shown off to interested parties as a rare, well bred First Blood, lower quality younger brother he may be.

what all does “training” a pet entail?

Admin Mawile: (>ω<○) Nothing good…

-Training is basically a process of, starting from infancy, destroying any idea that the pet could ever be anything but. Systematically obliterating self preservation, individuality, free will, and any form of self esteem to create a creature that thinks it can only be a pet to someone. They’re supposed to perfectly defer to a human’s will, and never go against or cause harm to what are programmed to be their betters. Exact training methods vary from breeder to breeder, but the general principles of physical and mental pain, isolation, and dependency on humans stay the same. Beatings, solitary confinement, separation of any bonds but to an owner, de-fanging (and other processes designed to render a sentient creature helpless and dependent), restricted food, if not outright starvation, and regular “obedience training” are all common, but many trainers come up with even more cruel and inhumane ways of making harmless pets out of formerly dangerous creatures.

For the pet Au: do vampires still drink human blood, and if so, how are they fed? Do people by blood-bags, is there a blood substitute, or do people let their ‘pets’ bite them?

Admin Mawile: (~০౪০)ノ Ohoho, I have a headcanon for that~

-So first, a brief explanations of vampire eating habits. As we’ve seen in canon, they can consume both blood and regular food, and express hunger at a lack of either. Also considering Shuu’s North Pole trip, it would be safe to assume that if they can starve to death, it wouldn’t be easy. My idea is that it’s more or less impossible for a vampire to starve to death. A lack of blood makes them weak, achy and miserable, and both that and a lack of “regular” food can make it feel like they’re dying of hunger, but neither can kill them.

-Since they won’t die either way, most vampires owners don’t care if their pets go hungry or not. They feed them enough to keep them functional past the pain and exhaustion, and rarely any more. Blood isn’t easy to come by, not to mention annoying to keep and serve, and no one wants to waste much people food on a pet, so more often than not, they just go hungry. Vampires have to be fed something to remain functional (not dead, just too tired and drained to move), and blood can be bought at stores for exotic pet supplies, but not many owners go out of their way to keep their vampire well fed.

-Finally, there’s a fairly common practice among vampire owners of having their pets de-fanged. Most commonly done on individuals with a history of violent behavior or acting out, de-fanging is said to be extra insurance that the vampire will never pose a threat. Similar to de-clawing a cat, it removes the main way they can do damage, with the added bonus of (supposedly) making the vampire more submissive and even tempered. The practice started out, and mostly still continues, as being used on adult or adolescent vampires that were otherwise difficult to handle, but currently, some breeders even default to it at infancy. Unfortunately, it renders the vampire incapable of feeding the normal way, and forces them to lap up or drink blood the same way a human would have to with any liquid. Some have argued that it does serious harm to the vampire’s mental state, as well.

What is Pet Au!Subaru’s situation with his mother?

Admin Mawile: (。•́︿•̀。)

-Normally, exotic pets are removed from their mothers as soon as they can survive on their own. No one wants them to get attached, after all. Subaru’s mother had been prone to fits for a while, streaks of acting out in which she lashed out at not only her owners, but herself. A vet suggested that having one of her children around as a sort of “comfort object” might help calm her (the vet also said that her fits were likely caused by over breeding, but no one listened to that). So Subaru spent a long portion of his childhood with Christa, in an attempt to even out her behavior and keep both the owners and their future profits safe. But just as the owners feared, a strong attachment formed between the mother and child, and when Subaru was eventually taken away, both of them started to act out again, this time out of stress from being separated from the only family they had ever known.
